Randsburg, CA Facing Decimation If Off-Roading Ruling Goes Through

Check out SF Gate's excellent reporting on this issue at:

The town of Randsburg, CA - surviving by a thread on income from visiting off-roaders, faces complete economic devastation from a federal ruling to protect an endangered species.

There's plenty of locals with grit, but the question is one of scratch.

According to Google, Randsburg is about 1h 11m (67.6 mi) drive time from Victorville, CA coming from the South - you can add about 30 minutes to get there from Riverside, most likely.

I'm wondering about maybe three yearly festivals; Arts & Crafts in the Spring, Country & Western music in Summer, and Blues in the Autumn. Maybe Winter could be a film festival? Just thinking out loud here.

Maybe they could get lucky and find an alien base under the old gold mine. ;-)

Randsburg Festival Committee?

I hope they find a way.

Dan
